Heap of praise from Van Gaal

Manager Louis van Gaal feels that his team showed the world what they can do" with a 3-1 victory against Barcelona in the International Champions Cup as Wayne Rooney, Jesse Lingard and Adnan Januzaj were all in the score sheet for the Red Devils as they defeat the treble Champions in Santa Clara, USA. 

Van Gaal was quoted as saying to MUTV "You know what happened last year? We also beat the European champions in Real Madrid, also 3-1, now we do the same against Barcelona... so preparation matches don't tell anything, It seems the United boss is keen to avoid taking such results too seriously, with his focus on performance in the Premier League.

Van Gaal is also please to remain 100% perfect in Pre-season matches but look forward to Quality performance from the team when the EPL season finally kicks off. Van Gaal believes his team must deliver at the right moment and that is against Tottenham Hotspur on the 8th of August, 2015. 

In a match that saw Barcelona having at least 65% of the ball possession but with United doing the scoring and creating a lot of chances, more than Barcelona. United were also a little bit lucky as Barcelona on three occasions hit the post.

Van Gaal also offered particular praise and salutation to Januzaj and De Gea. Januzaj who came on as the spearhead at centre-forward for the last half-hour against Barca when the manager withdrew his entire front four of Rooney, Ashley Young, Memphis Depay and Juan Mata, going on to score the final goal in stoppage time.

And De Gea who is wanted by Real Madrid, produced a strong performance when he denied Sergi Roberto a goal when the Barcelona midfielder was clean through in the first half, giving De Gea a confidence boost. After the final whistle, Van Gaal saluted his goalkeeper, who has been out with a back injury, and reiterated that he wants him to stay at Old Trafford for next season despite Madrid's interest.

United Final Pre-season match is against Paris Saint-Germain on the 30th of July, 2015 in Chicago.
