De Gea Stays - Van Gaal

Manager Louis van Gaal has insisted that Manchester United will not be selling Spanish international stopper David De Gea despite excessive interest from Real Madrid and the player refusing to play so far this season.

Van Gaal was quoted as saying "I think when Manchester United wants a player he shall come, [apart from] when a club is not selling," he told reporters on Friday. "Okay, then it is the same with us. We are not selling De Gea. It's the same."

De Gea 24, has a one year left on his contract which may see him leave for free should United fail to extend his stay this season.

However, with Sergio Romero performing awesomely so far this season, De Gea chances of being selected has become futile as he has not been selected for either of United's first two Premier League victories, against Tottenham and Aston Villa as well as UCL play-offs victory against Club Brugge on tuesday night, because Van Gaal believes focus matters a lot in important games.

With the Newcastle game approaching, he (De Gea) will once again be in the stands this weekend with the Argentina international Sergio Romero in goal.

United has maintained they will accept noting less than 35 million Euros for De Gea if the player is to leave, but hope are David could extend his stay at United before his contract is terminated.
