The rise of Marcus Rashford

The Friday match between England and Australia saw Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford making his debut for country and...
scoring 2.30mins into the game and winning the man-of-the-match award as England defeated Australia 2-1 delighting his team-mates.It is no fairy-tale about his (Rashford) rise as there are very few 18-year-old English players that can distinguish themselves this way.

Rashford 18, made his debut for United back in February, broke into the first team in April, winning the FA Cup at Wembley and becoming the Three Lions’ youngest goal scoring debutant in the space of 82 days.

He has now netted nine goals in 19 appearances for club and country, with his fine display in Friday’s 2-1 victory against Australia earning a standing ovation and perhaps a place in the final Euro 2016 squad.

Rashford is the 10th youngest player in England’s history to breakthrough the ranks of both club and country following the footsteps of Michael Owen delighting himself,  his team-mates, the England and United supporters respectively.

Due to his (Rashford) consistency, coach Roy Hodgson has name the teenager among five attacking options for the Euro 2016 competition in France come June 10th. Rashford, Rooney, Wilshare all named in England provisional 26 man squad Euro 2016.

Although a surprise inclusion but a deserving one for Marcus Rashford.
