Bastian Schweinsteiger aims for 100% fitness

It hasn’t been the most impressive start to a Manchester United career ever, but Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger hopes to be fully fit in time for their Champions League play-off against Club Brugge after shrugging off a calf injury.
The World Cup winner, who was a £14.5 million signing from Bayern Munich, hopes to be in top condition for Friday's trip to Aston Villa and Tuesday's Champions League qualifier against Club Brugge at Old Trafford.

He told United's website "I had three or four days in America where I had this injury and it was not so good for my rhythm. "Now I feel much better and the [Tottenham] game was very important to play 30 minutes. "The training sessions are very important for me, too, and I hope I will be 100 percent fit in the next week."

Schweinsteiger was given a rapturous applause at Old Trafford when he replaced Michael Carrick in the opening game of the season and the World Cup winner admitted he was overwhelmed by the occasion.
