Injury Update: Phil Jones, 3 weeks out


Manager Louis van Gaal have confirmed that England defender Phil Jones will be on the sidelined for three weeks with mild thrombosis and blood clothing...

This injury will see the United defender be out of action for the club in the forthcoming UEFA Champions League play-off against Belgian side Club Brugge. 

Jones will miss the two champions league tie for the club in ten days time and with the return leg in Belgium on August 26. He will also miss Premiership league games against Aston Villa (Away) on the 15, August, Newcastle (Home) on the 22, August and Swansea City (Home) on the 29, August.

Jones 23, was last featured in United' 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the pre-season friendly, and he was also not involved in the squad during the clubs'  1 - 0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the season-opener at Old Trafford.

Available defensive option for manager Louis van Gaal includes Marcos Rojo, Johnny Evans, Patrick McNair, and Tyler Blackett
