It was announced that the Brazilian winger had contracted the parotitis-mumps. The virus can be quite serious and it now looks as if Neymar will be on the mend for at least two weeks, possibly even a month.
Pedro could replace Neymar in the Barcelona Squad ahead of the two leg tie in the Spanish super cup against Athletico Bilbao, as well as Sevilla in the UEFA super cup.
Barcelona need Pedro now more than ever and as such, United's bid to sign the Spanish winger may have come to an end.
United are expected to submit to UEFA their squad list for the play-off matches against Club Brugge on or before the 11 pm on Monday, Following their submission to UEFA, they are then allowed to add one new addition to their squad list up to 11 pm on August the 17th.
